Why we exist
South African sport has never lacked passion. It has lacked a home that matches it.
Scores are everywhere. You can get a result on your phone in four seconds flat. What’s rare is context — the reason a 1-1 draw in Casablanca keeps a coach awake, what a fourth Test against the All Blacks means to a country that hasn’t hosted them properly in thirty years, why a promoted club nobody outside its town has heard of is the most interesting story of the weekend.
ScoreLine brings a sharper point of view to sports coverage. Sport is stories, and the score is only the first line of each one.
That’s the promise, and it’s the only one we make. We sit between the fast, shallow score-and-results sites and the slow, formal traditional press — quick with the news, but always carrying the context, history and emotion the scoreboard leaves out.

He’s a whistle. He’s also a fan.
Fluit is our mascot, and his name is the Afrikaans word for whistle. From the first blow to the final score he’s there for every goal, every try, every wicket and every moment worth remembering.
One thing to know about him: he’s an excited fan who happens to be a whistle, never a referee. He celebrates, he reacts, he cheers. He does not officiate. He’s on your side of the line, always.
