The confetti in Durban has barely been swept up. In Mamelodi, Ronwen Williams’ dive will be on repeat for a while yet. In Soweto, you suspect plenty of supporters are avoiding the highlights. Nobody, winner or loser, gets to sit with that feeling for long, because the league comes knocking on Tuesday.

Here is everything you need on the PSL fixtures Tuesday night brings: four matches, four 19:30 SAST kick-offs, and the four clubs at the top of the log all in action at the same time. Mamelodi Sundowns travel to Richards Bay as fresh MTN8 champions. Orlando Pirates host TS Galaxy carrying their first defeat of the season. Kaizer Chiefs put an unbeaten league record on the line against Stellenbosch, and AmaZulu make the short trip to Chatsworth for a KwaZulu-Natal derby against a Durban City side with a brand-new coach.

All four fixtures, venues and times come from the Premier Soccer League’s (PSL) official fixture list for the Betway Premiership, checked on Monday 12 October 2026. They match Sowetan’s midweek listing and the Chiefs and Pirates club sites. No broadcaster had been confirmed in the sources we checked, so we have left that out rather than guess. Tickets for the Chiefs game cost R80 through the MyTicket app and at Shoprite and Checkers outlets, according to the club.

Positions and figures are from the PSL’s official log, checked on Monday morning. Only Tuesday’s eight clubs are shown.

One point separates Sundowns and Pirates, and Sundowns have played a game more. Chiefs, like the top two, have not lost a league game yet. This is the first league round since 19 and 20 September, and one night could reshuffle the top four.

Richards Bay v Mamelodi Sundowns: champions on a short turnaround

Sundowns arrive with a trophy on the bus. On Saturday 10 October they beat Pirates 2-0 at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban to win the MTN8: Teboho Mokoena scored early, Ronwen Williams kept out Gamphani Lungu’s penalty just before the hour, and Iqraam Rayners converted a stoppage-time penalty. Our MTN8 final report has the full story and what both coaches said. For Miguel Cardoso, the PSL noted, it was a first domestic trophy as Sundowns coach.

The league form is strong but not spotless. Unbeaten in eight, Sundowns’ last league outing was a 1-1 draw at Chippa United on 12 September, rescued by a late Antonio Van Wyk equaliser. A win in Durban keeps them top whatever happens in Soweto.

Richards Bay are the opposite story: no league win in seven, and defeats in their last two, 5-1 at Milford, then 3-2 at home to Sekhukhune United. In the second, Nqaba Xulu scored twice to drag them back from 2-0 down before a late winner went against them. His five league goals put him second on the PSL scoring list.

No injury news had been published for either side by Monday morning. For the bigger picture on the champions, see our Mamelodi Sundowns team page.

Orlando Pirates v TS Galaxy: the first bruise of the season

Pirates had not needed to deal with losing this season until Saturday. The final was their first defeat of the season, the club said, and it ended their bid for a fifth MTN8 title in a row. The league tells a calmer story: six wins and a draw from seven matches, 16 goals scored and one conceded. Their last league match was a 2-0 win at Marumo Gallants on 20 September.

The worry is at right-back. Kamogelo Sebelebele was stretchered off just before half-time in Durban, and coach Abdeslam Ouaddou told SuperSport afterwards that he came off on the medical department’s advice. No update on his fitness for Tuesday had been published by Monday morning.

Galaxy arrive in poor shape. They sit 12th with six points and one win from seven, and they have not scored in their last two league matches: a 1-0 defeat to Kruger United on 13 September, when they were reduced to ten men, and a 1-0 home loss to Chippa United a week later. A defence that has conceded once all league season is the last thing they need.

Our Orlando Pirates page has the club’s story and its recent direction.

Kaizer Chiefs v Stellenbosch: an unbeaten run and some familiar faces

Chiefs are fourth on 13 points, three wins and four draws, and still without a league defeat under coach Fernando Da Cruz. The club points out that it last got through the first eight league games of a season unbeaten in 2015/16. They return from a 0-0 draw away to Golden Arrows on 20 September, a game in which they missed a penalty and hit the woodwork.

The team news, published by the club on Sunday and reported by FARPost, lists four injury concerns. Brandon Petersen is back in individual training after a knee injury, Lebohang Maboe is nursing an ankle problem, and Langelihle Phili and Siphesihle Ndlovu remain long-term absentees. The medical team is also keeping a close eye on Luke Baartman, who picked up an injury. Neither side has a suspension.

Stellenbosch, seventh on nine points and coached by Gavin Hunt, ended a three-game winless run with a 1-0 win at Kruger United before the break. They could hand debuts to two recent signings, according to the Chiefs preview: Njabulo Blom, a Chiefs academy product, and Ghana international Solomon Agbasi. Ashley Du Preez, who scored twice against Stellenbosch during his time at Chiefs, is now a Stellenbosch forward.

Durban City v AmaZulu: a new coach walks into a derby

Eric Tinkler has had five days to learn the names. Durban City announced him as head coach on Thursday 8 October, after parting ways with Khalil Ben Youssef, and his first match is a KwaZulu-Natal derby.

“I’m excited to be part of what is being built here at Durban City FC,” Tinkler said in the club’s statement. The former Bafana Bafana midfielder, part of the squad that won the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations, has set a top-eight finish as his target, the Daily Sun reported. He inherits the Nedbank Cup holders, but a side that has won once in seven league matches and sits 10th. Their last outing was a 1-1 draw at Milford on 20 September.

AmaZulu, meanwhile, are flying. Arthur Zwane’s side are third on 16 points and went into the break on three straight league wins, the last of them 1-0 at Polokwane City. Their striker Ngwenya has eight league goals, the most in the PSL, and has scored in every one of AmaZulu’s seven league games, according to Kick Off. Durban City have conceded only five in seven. Something has to give.

No team news had been published for either side by Monday morning.

    What Tuesday night could change

The arithmetic is delicious. If Pirates beat Galaxy and Sundowns drop points in Durban, Pirates go top. If both win, Sundowns stay a point clear, having played a game more. A win for AmaZulu takes them to 19 points, level with Pirates’ current total, and a win for Chiefs takes them to 16.

Then the continent calls. CAF has set the Champions League second preliminary round first legs for 16 to 18 October, with Sundowns against Wiliete of Angola and Pirates against African Stars of Namibia, and the return legs a week later. The exact match days had not been confirmed by CAF when we checked.
